JOB SUMMARY

As part of a newly formed product team, your overall responsibilities will be to build our commercial underwriting team. Your responsibilities are focused on helping develop and implement various programs aimed toward serving the small business marketplace.  You will partner with an industry leading software development team to create innovative ways to deliver an amazing insurance buying experience to customers.  As part of a growing, dynamic company you will “wear many hats” helping with a variety of tasks including assisting clients with questions or issues related to their insurance, working with (re)insurance companies, working with claims handlers, assisting with systems implementations and other tasks as they arise.

On an as needed basis, you may also participate in various projects as we develop the best ways to scale for growth. To achieve your goals, you’ll collaborate daily with team members in sales, our service center, and product/system development.

Phase 1 (Immediate responsibilities):

 

  • The primary function is the production of an underwriting profit through the effective development and maintenance of quality business consistent with the overall business plan objectives
  • Aid in the development, implementation and adherence to underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Develop pricing in accordance with risk analysis and company filings
  • Underwriting new and renewal business, pricing accounts to ensure a profitable book
  • Review certificates of insurance for accuracy, noting deficiencies and requesting revisions as necessary
  • Approve or decline endorsement requests according to internal and company guidelines
  • Ensure products are compliant with existing rules, regulations, and company filings
  • Travel to retail agent’s office and service center as required
  • Participate in claims review meetings as necessary and assess claim trends
  • Assessing the key risk details needed for pricing a risk to ensure a minimalistic and streamlined customer quoting experience

 

Phase 2 (in 8 -12 months):

  • Work with the Program Manager and Product Manager to develop a strategy for the rolling out of current and additional products in new markets
  • Monitor the actions of competitors and rating bureaus that impact our insurance operations
  • Evaluate business results and market trends to improve product profitability
  • Review profitability drivers on a state-by-state basis and adjust product guidelines and pricing accordingly
  • Identify areas of opportunity to improve growth, profit, and diversification

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or appropriate insurance designation required
  • Knowledge and experience in workers compensation, commercial multi-line underwriting and rating, as well as current knowledge of the insurance industry
  • At least 5 years of commercial underwriting experience with 2 years of Worker’s Compensation underwriting
  • Demonstrated skill in risk analysis, negotiation, loss models, and proposing terms and pricing.
  • Maintain necessary licenses to produce business
  • Recognize new trends and developments to the insurance industry and be able to incorporate into strategies
  • Must be able to understand and analyze necessary components of insurance policies. Ability to understand client’s needs and have knowledge of the risk profiles associated
  • Ability to develop, foster, and maintain an excellent working relationships
  • Leadership and team skills a must
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are required
  • Capability of conducting quantitative analysis (SQL, SAS or equivalent knowledge preferred)

As part of the Service Center team your overall responsibilities will be to ensure our customers receive timely and quality service. Your responsibilities are focused on reviewing and accurately troubleshooting client service needs and assisting in the management of our clients’ insurance policies. You may have additional responsibilities including, issuing insurance certificates, processing policy changes, process improvement and supporting our “pay as you go” insurance program. Purpose of this role:

 

Provides advanced customer service and support internal and external customers.   Ability to diffuse client concerns. Escalate critical client situations to ensure timely resolution for all parties.   Maintains a high level of knowledge for the products and services supported by AP Intego and its’ partners.

 

  • Researches and resolves client premium audit discrepancies.
  • Mitigates financial risk and exposure through timely review, root cause analysis and issue resolution for all client premium
  • Responds to all client inquiries within the department guidelines. Maintains accurate recording of all internal and external communication
  • Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of AP Intego, corresponding systems and internal/external processes to achieve a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Recommends enhancements to existing or new processes. Uses internal resources to develop procedures while making the necessary recommendations to management.
  • Maintains and manages positive and professional relationships with AP Intego clients, insurance carriers, partners internal/external clients to achieve client satisfaction.
  • Utilizes multiple software applications (EPIC, TRUPAY, and Zendesk) in conjunction with carrier and bureau websites to respond to all client inquiries.
  • Continue to stay abreast of all changes in various internal product offerings, regulatory changes, policy changes and insurance industry developments in support of client satisfaction.
  • Participates in assigned projects or required training. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated individual to go above and beyond.
  • AAS/BA/BS in Business Management, Accounting and or a minimum of 2 years of customer service/relevant insurance experience.
  • Multi-tasking abilities, versatility, and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment are necessary skills for this position.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Property & Casualty licensed preferred
